When the team at Guts UK and Dr. Falk Pharma needed professional, dependable AV and video production for their annual awards ceremony in 2025, they partnered with us at Innobella Media.

We were delighted to collaborate once again with our trusted colleagues at Event Squared to deliver a successful evening celebrating excellence in digestive health research across the UK.

The Dr. Falk / Guts UK Awards are a highlight in the calendar for those working in gastroenterology and hepatology. Bringing together clinicians, academics and researchers from across the UK, the event showcases outstanding contributions and promising research in the field. This year’s ceremony took place at the prestigious Radisson Blu Hotel in central Glasgow.

As an evening event featuring a sit-down dinner and a formal awards presentation, it was vital that everything looked and sounded flawless. That’s where we came in.

The Client: Guts UK and Dr. Falk Pharma

Guts UK! is a national charity dedicated to the digestive system. Through funding research, increasing public awareness and empowering patients, the charity plays a vital role in improving outcomes for those affected by digestive diseases.

In partnership with Dr. Falk Pharma, they host an annual awards night recognising rising stars in the field including students, junior doctors and early-career researchers. The event not only acknowledges individual achievement, but also helps strengthen the broader digestive health community.

For the 2025 event, the organisers needed a team they could trust to handle the technical aspects without fuss, and to capture high-quality footage for future promotion. They chose to work with us again following two previous successful collaborations; last year’s event in Birmingham and the 2023 awards here in Liverpool.

The Challenge: Precision Delivery for a One-Off Event

Award ceremonies are fast-moving, high-pressure events. There’s no room for technical hiccups. Every video needs to play on cue, every name needs to be heard clearly, and the sound, lighting and atmosphere all have to work together to create the right tone.

Specific requirements for this event included:

  • A full PA system to deliver crisp, even sound across a large dining room
  • Lectern hire with professional integrated microphones for the host
  • A mix of wired and wireless microphones for flexibility with speakers and winners
  • Support for music playback to accompany award announcements and applause
  • Integration of pre-recorded videos throughout the evening
  • A video production team to film interviews with award winners and record the evening itself
  • Delivery of a short promotional video to help drive interest in the 2026 awards

Although Innobella Media is based in Liverpool, we regularly travel across the UK to support events like this. Our team is well-versed in setting up quickly and working seamlessly with venues, suppliers and event partners.

The Solution: A Collaborative Approach with Event Squared

This event was a true team effort. We worked in close partnership with Event Squared, who led on event logistics, guest experience and venue coordination. Our role was to handle all aspects of AV and video production, ensuring that every technical detail was taken care of.

Together, we ensured a smooth and enjoyable experience for guests and organisers alike. While Event Squared focused on running the event and managing the flow of the evening, we focused on making sure it sounded professional, looked great on camera, and was ready to be repurposed into future marketing content.

Technical Setup: What We Delivered

Our AV setup included a full system with 4 PA loudspeakers to evenly distribute sound across the room, avoiding dead zones or feedback. We supplied a sleek, modern lectern with dual built-in microphones and automatic mixer for the various speakers, and deployed both handheld and headset wireless microphones to cover different speaker preferences.

We also managed playback of all audio cues during the event, including music stings to accompany applause and the playback of short video content between awards.

On the video side, our crew filmed throughout the evening, capturing the atmosphere of the event, key moments on stage and winner interviews. These interviews were filmed in a controlled, professional setting at the venue, ready to be edited into a concise and engaging promotional video.

The Result: A Seamless, Professional Awards Evening

The event ran exactly as planned. Every technical element performed flawlessly, from the moment guests arrived to the final round of applause. The client was delighted with how smooth and stress-free the evening felt from a production perspective.

They were also extremely happy with the interview footage and overall video coverage, which is now being used to produce a short promotional film encouraging entries for the 2026 awards. That video will be featured on Dr. Falk and Guts UK’s websites and social media channels to drive awareness and engagement.

Once again, this project demonstrated the value of close collaboration, careful planning and technical expertise. By working together with Event Squared, we were able to deliver a premium experience that reflected the importance and prestige of the event.
